Associazione Piscicoltori Italiani (API) – Italian Fish Farmers Association

Organisation Description

API is a non-profit corporation, which aims to protect, develop and consolidate all activities related to fish-breeding. API is a professional association, established in June 1964 gathers over 300 fish farms of fresh, salt and brackish water and of many species, which represent around 90% of the Italian production of finfish. API promotes financial, scientific, technical, insurance, professional, union and legal interventions, which may prove necessary to reach this target.

Role in PerformFISH

API will cooperate actively in the implementation of PerformFISH contributing at three different levels: experienced members of the API Board are active members of ISAB; experienced scientists and technicians at operational level, employees of API or API members will support API, forming ITEC; farming companies, members of API will provide the infrastructures needed to implement Project trials at field level. Finally API will be strongly involved in dissemination actions.

Key Staff

Marco Gilmozzi

Marco Gilmozzi (M) Biologist, CEO of Società Agricola COSA s.r.l. fish farm located in Tuscany, API Vice President and FEAP President. He has participated in several coordinated projects and technical working groups organized by API, FEAP at regional, national and EU level following mainly, marketing and management issues related to mariculture.

Andrea Fabris

Andrea Fabris (M) Veterinarian (DMV), API Director, provides veterinary consultancy and technical assistance to fish farms including members of API. He has participated in several Working Groups on the above-mentioned topics run by the MIPAAF General Direction for Fisheries and Aquaculture and by the General Direction of Animal Health of the Ministry of Health.

Lisa Rovaglia

Lisa Rovaglia (F) responsible for administration and accounting, manages relations with the public administration (Ministries, regions, provinces, universities etc.) for the reporting of projects. She assists fish farmers regarding tax and financial issues.

Lucia Scudeller

Lucia Scudeller (F) assists on FEP projects (both for the Association and for member companies), organizes training courses and technical assistance activities, collects data, monitors, organizes and participates in fairs and promotions, and does secretarial work.

Vladimir Kvavadze

Vladimir Kvavadze (M) IT manager. He is involved in data processing, web sites development, general communication activities and associative newsletter editing.
